Today, we pay tribute to the life and legacy of Colin MacKenzie — fondly known as ‘Mr. Standards.’ A true pioneer and icon of the timber industry, Colin dedicated nearly five decades to shaping the industry we know today.
From his early work at CSIRO through to his leadership at TRADAC and Timber Queensland, Colin’s contribution to the development and refinement of Australian standards — especially AS 1684.2 for residential timber framing — has set a lasting benchmark for quality and safety.
Senior members of the Dindas Australia team have had the privilege of working alongside Colin for over 30 years, witnessing firsthand his expertise, dedication, and passion for the industry. His mentorship and guidance have been invaluable, leaving a lasting impact not just on our business but on the entire timber community.
Beyond his technical expertise, Colin was a passionate educator, respected speaker, and generous mentor. His straightforward, practical approach earned him the trust of industry professionals nationwide, and his guidance has left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of learning from him.
